About Drifting River Consulting

Many of my former banking clients still call me for advice. That tells me something.

Over the years, we heard the same story from farmers across Western Canada: "My bank doesn't understand my operation." Or worse, "I know something is wrong financially, but I can't figure out what." We seen lenders who were skilled salespeople but lacked the ability to structure farm finances in a way that actually solved problems.

So Steve built the service he wished he'd had and that his clients need. Drifting River Consulting exists because farmers deserve an advisor who truly gets it - someone who speaks both languages: the language of the producer and the language of the lender.

Our Mission

We believe that a great consultant doesn't come in to tell you what you're doing wrong. Our job is to listen, understand your goals, and work alongside you to build a clearer, stronger future for your operation - one honest conversation at a time.

About our Founder

Rooted in the land. Trained in the numbers.

Drifting River Consulting is owned and operated by Steve Ganczar. Steve's path to consulting wasn't a straight line. He grew up on a small mixed family farm, went on to build expertise in agronomy and banking, all while still continuing to farm as well. That combination of lived experience and professional training gives him something most consultants don't have: he's seen your situation from every angle.

Why Steve Started This Business

Steve started Drifting River Consulting because he saw too many farmers trying to manage everything alone. Many felt stuck, stressed or unsure about what steps to take next. Bankers changed often, input reps focused on products and no one saw the whole picture.

He wanted to offer something different: honest support, clear advice and long-term guidance from someone who truly understands farming.

Who We Serve

Drifting River Consulting is built for the farmers who don't always make the headlines - the small and medium-sized operations running grain, cattle, and mixed farms across Canada. If you've ever felt like your bank doesn't really understand your operation, your lender doesn't understand you, or you're making big decisions without anyone supporting you, we understand. Because we've been there too.
